Winner receives £1500 from FA
Arrived at the ground
shortly after kick off. £3 at the turnstile and £1 for the program which was
great value. Entrance to the ground was situated by the corner flag. To the
left of the entrance was the club house/bar about the size of a large
container. Could well have been one. Peeped in, a few blokes finishing their
pints. Open for alcohol only when football is not being played. To the right of
the entrance was a shed type ‘Cup of Tea Shop’. Normal fair, chips and pucka
pies. Had a cup of tea and was slightly embarrassed when asking a supporter
which team was the home team. He pointed out the colour of the stand and every
building around the ground which matched one of the teams. Oops.
The first half was
uneventful. Atherstone hit the post but I thought Brocton slightly shaded it.
The second half began with Atherstone scoring early and with the wind behind
them expected to go on and win it easily. Brocton, however, thought differently
and continued to play the better football and equalised mid- way through the
session. Went for a second cup of tea but they had run out of milk.
Game ended
1-1. Replay Tuesday.
The crowd was 146.
I didn’t win the raffle.
